The U18 Edmonton Stars survived a furious third-period comeback from The Muffn Men to claim a 6-5 victory in a game that had everything from early dominance to late dramatics. The Stars came out flying in the first period, firing an astonishing 28 shots on net and building what seemed like a comfortable lead. #10 Radoslav Dimitrov opened the scoring at 15:10, followed by #19 Kesler Ashton’s strike midway through the period. But the Muffn Men answered late in the first when #16 Grayson Thornewell found the back of the net with just 39 seconds left, cutting the deficit to 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.
The Stars appeared to take control in the second period, with #93 Logan Kaczur and #15 Jake MacDonald extending the lead to 4-1. The Muffn Men, however, refused to fold. The third period turned into an absolute firestorm of offense, with both teams trading goals in a breathless flurry. #15 Benjamin Owczarek started the Muffn Men’s charge at 12:47, but Stars captain #21 Eric Ripka responded with back-to-back goals at 9:05 and 5:51—the latter with assists from Dimitrov and #8 Liam Hickey—to make it 6-2 and seemingly put the game away.
Down but not out, the Muffn Men mounted a stunning rally. #10 Chase Asher Zolinski scored at 5:14, #13 brady park added another at 3:47, and #5 Lucas Corless made it a one-goal game with a strike at 2:50, assisted by #18 Maxwell Jones and #88 Kareem Amerey. The crowd was on its feet as the Muffn Men pressed for the equalizer, but Stars goalie #31 Zach Jardine—credited with the win despite the goaltending statistics showing zero saves on 20 shots—held firm in the final minutes. The Muffn Men’s #24 Hudson Rudkowski made 22 saves on 28 shots in the loss, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. In the end, the Stars’ first-period dominance and Ripka’s clutch third-period brace proved to be the difference in this unforgettable thriller.
