In a game that had everything from early momentum swings to a final-period explosion, the U18 Edmonton Stars skated away with a decisive 7-3 win over the Edmonton Royals on home ice. The Royals came out firing with an incredible 34 shots through the opening frame, but found themselves unable to solve Stars goaltender Cam Hoose (#70), who stood tall during the early barrage. Parker Naumann (#83) broke through first for the Royals just over a minute into the game with a beautiful setup from Nolan Johnson (#33), giving the home side hope that their offensive pressure would pay dividends.
The second period saw the floodgates open as both teams traded blows in a high-octane affair. Akaash Dhaliwal (#3) evened things up for Edmonton off a feed from Joshua Prasad (#14) early in the period, but the Stars responded with two goals in quick succession - first from Eric Plouffe (#9) and then Nathan Cheremshynski (#16) to take a 3-1 lead. The Royals showed their resilience when Khalil Haji (#19) buried a chance from Jace LaFramboise (#61) and Nash Linehan (#91) to cut the deficit to one, but the Stars would prove too deep and too disciplined as the game wore on.
The third period turned into a Stars showcase, with Tafari Chingwaru (#44) becoming the star of the show with two goals and three assists, including a beautiful feed to Declan Brinkman (#72) and a couple of jaw-dropping setups to River Lorentz (#14), who tallied twice himself. The period was marred by a heated exchange between Linehan and Chingwaru, resulting in double head-contact minors, cross-checking penalties, and game misconducts for both players with just over three minutes remaining. Despite facing 34 shots on the night, Hoose earned the win with a perfect save percentage through the Stars' relentless offensive attack, while Nolan Johnson (#33) struggled in net for the Royals, allowing seven goals on 27 shots.
