From the opening faceoff, it was clear that The Muffn Men came to play. They absolutely dominated the first period, unleashing a staggering 32 shots on the Edmonton Jr Kings’ net. The onslaught finally paid off with just over seven minutes left in the frame. Forward Kareem Amerey (#11) broke the deadlock with a well-placed even-strength goal at 12:46, set up by Maxwell Jones (#18) and Lucas Corless (#14). The Jr Kings, however, managed to weather the storm and keep the deficit at just one goal after the first 20 minutes, thanks largely to the heroics of their netminder, Denver Purkins (#1), who faced a relentless barrage. For a moment, it seemed like Edmonton might have found a foothold.
The second period saw the game spin completely out of the Jr Kings' control. Just over a minute in, Edmonton’s Jason Dhaliwal (#88) was sent to the box for slashing, handing The Muffn Men a power play they wouldn't squander. Chase Asher Zolinski (#9) made them pay with a man-advantage marker at 7:28. The floodgates then opened. Maxwell Jones (#18) scored at 6:46, and Zolinski netted his second of the night at 2:43, finishing off a dominant frame that saw the visitors build a commanding 4-0 lead. Rajdeep Gill (#11) managed to get the Jr Kings on the board with an even-strength goal at 13:18, but it was a mere blip against the Muffn Men’s tide.
Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished early in the third period. The Muffn Men kept their foot on the gas, with Maxwell Jones completing his hat trick just 80 seconds in. After Irjodh Cheema (#71) took a roughing minor, Brett Stuparyk (#10) capitalized on yet another power play, making it 6-1. Kareem Amerey then scored his second of the night, and Zolinski completed his own hat trick at 3:27 to cap off the 8-1 demolition. The story of the game was the incredible disparity in shots, with The Muffn Men outshooting the Jr Kings 32-12. While Purkins faced a grueling 32 shots in a losing effort, the Jr Kings could only muster a dozen on Ryland Lackey (#28), who earned the win with ease. It was a complete and utter statement win for The Muffn Men.
